Beauty of Mexico
My habibis! How is this new year treating you? Kif halak hada ssinnaa jadeeda?? Como va este ano nuevo? I am fantastic! I am finally back in California--not in San Franny just yet but enjoying some time on the Central Coast with old friends. It's rather chilly but lovely nonetheless.
Mexico was beautiful! I ended up in 5 states out of the planned seven but I still experienced great beauty, humble people, and peaceful thoughts. I arrived in Mexico City (in Estado de Mexico) and I was thrilled! Here I was in one of the biggest cities of the world, and I was ready to make it mine. I caught a bus from the airport and headed out. I didn't stay long in Mexico City, as I was headed to the state of Puebla.
The view from the bus windows was great. So many cars and taxis. Not to mention the fearlessness of the drivers on the freeway. I ended up in the City of Puebla. After that was explored, I was in Oaxaca. The food was delicious and to die for here. I met many people and they loved the fact that I was this lone 5 foot traveler They all brought me happiness and just made me more grateful for everything I have. I was also on a mission you see, I had boxes of school supplies (Crayola, etc., etc.) shipped to my grandma's house in Mexico so they would be there when I got there and I made tons of goody bags filled with candy and school supplies for the kids I saw. The smile on their faces when they got them was priceless! They may not be the future of my home country (the United States) but they are the future of the WORLD. I want them to know that I believe in them and love them! I also met more amazing people at this plaza in the city of Oaxaca, like artists and just normal people who sat down next to me for a chat. Then I was approached by a Tele Azteca (Mexican channel) news woman and she asked to interview me!!! I was so surprised. She asked me my opinions on education in Mexico and Mexican pay rates....I hope I sounded decent.
I then caught a bus to Coatzacalcos, Veracruz. It was long but I was able to sleep for a bit. I met more people and Veracruz was so warm and green, just so lovely! I enjoyed the local fruit, and I would always have Papaya smoothies!!! The best! I even saw the old elementary school where the gorgeous Salma Hyek went to! There were a lot of Central American immigrants here, mainly because the big railroads (that pass all Central American countries) passed through here. I chatted with many of them and they were delightful.
After a few days there, all spent at the beach with a few beers or at the main attractions, I headed back to my grandmas house for a little tenderness and great food. After a week there and writing in my journal, discovering rivers, caves and cute plants, I headed to the big city and caught a plane to Hermosillo, Sonora. It was so cold and the military was always checking for drugs (this state is closer to the US-Mexico Border). It was there that I met the pilot Guillermo Gonzalez, he was so handsome and he thought I was pretty. Nothing happened, except he was my pilot to Los Angeles. But I wished I could have not been so shy!
This trip was a total of three beautiful weeks. I got to explore new places and meet new people. Yes, I was inspired. I definitely am not giving up in my dreams, I promised all the people I met that I was striving for something better in life, not just for me, but for them! The last few months of last year were spent with a broken heart but now, I am cured and happy! I will always love the world, and I hope the world loves me! I must be focused! Stay sane and humble my habibis, until tomorrow at least.
