Saving Syria
Have you seen the news lately, it's all the buzz about Syria. Over the summer, I made a Syrian friend in my hometown. It was odd because mainly everyone is Mexican, even my grandpa noticed the wave of new Syrian people in our hometown, and he gets along with them very well. This friend of mine was grateful I was able to speak Arabic with him, as it reminded him of his family and home. He spoke of Syria with great love and hope and it saddens me that this brutality and miscommunication is going on.
I want to help Syria and its people. I want to let people know that they have a right to happiness and love and that conflicts shall not deny them of this. I'm not trying to be the Che Guevara of the Middle East nor of Latin America, I just want to bring happiness and hope to people. I did not ask God to be born with such compassion and love for people, I just was. Perhaps I am to the point of insanity where I can help the world.
Perhaps I was meant to be this revolutionary or Arab princess, but whatever I become, I want to inspire others and help them too. Not just with words of hope and love but with my actions of bravery (sometimes foolish but bravery nonetheless) and with my eyes. Stay sane and humble my habibis. Another day awaits!
